Observatory is één van de oudtste stadsdelen van Kaapstad. Een buurt gemengde middenstand buurt, nu is het een ware studentenbuurt, met een gevarieerd en bruisend uitgaansleven.
De buurt is bekend om zijn veelal felgekleurde huizen, gebouwd in traditioneel Victoriaanse stijl.
In een minuut loop je Milton Road uit, dan kom je op Lower Mainroad waar je restaurantjes en kroegjes kan vinden.

Deze bekende pizza en pasta restaurant op de Lower Mainroad heeft een goede Italiaanse keuken voor een zeer redelijke prijs. Het is er binnen gezellig ingericht, je kunt er een leuke avond uiteten. Ook bezorgen ze gratis het eten bij jouw lodge.
OBZ CAFE
Voor een goed ontbijt of lunch kun je naar Obz Cafe. Vaak zenden ze belangrijke voetbal en rugby wedstrijden uit. Lodgers hebben hier ook voordeel met hun speciale kortingskaart.
STONES
De Stones is erg populair onder de lodgers. Je kunt er een potje pool spelen en wat drinken in deze alom bekende poolbar. Er zijn ongeveer 30 pooltafels en een balkon voor wat frisse lucht (om je verlies te verwerken). De muziek die ze hier draaien is voornamelijk rock. Regelmatig zullen ze omroepen voor welk drankje een happy hour geldt!

Dit Mexicaanse restaurant biedt een goede service en heeft een leuk sfeertje. Kom je met een grotere groep? Geen probleem, geef het even aan van te voren. Na het eten kun je nog lang natafelen of plaats nemen aan de bar omdat het er erg gezellig kan zijn.
